Elvis Richardson, THIS IS NOT A TEST 2009
Permanent marker on KLIPPAN cover
Elvis Richardson has made a number of works using TV test patterns as a symbol of interruption (to old school television broadcast) as well as a tool of synchronization for cameras and monitors to match colour and focus. For Elvis, this felt like an appropriate image to use both on a sofa, a piece of furniture very suited to television watching, and in the context of the fundraiser and the people’s lives interrupted and affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
