Agatha Gothe-Snape Local Knowledge (For Beverly Gothe & Margo Snape) 2009
Woolen blankets and shawl

Agatha Gothe-Snape has an interest in the process of investing objects with life by putting energy into them. For this work she sourced hand-made, pure wool blankets from op shops; these blankets have undergone a similar processes of energy investment. Through wrapping the KLIPPAN in this way she is doubly investing it with energy which it will hold, carry and emanate in its new home.

Agatha is a cross-disciplinary artist based in Sydney. She holds an Honors degree in Performance Studies from Sydney University and is currently completing a Master of Visual Arts in Painting at the Sydney College of the Arts. She is interested in the roles of both performance and conversation in the process of making art - as seen in her recent project, Every Artist Remembered in which she collaborated with nine artists from various backgrounds to verbally and visually ‘map’ their combined memories of artists’ names. Her work has been exhibited at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Breenspace, MOP Projects and Fristdraft in Sydney and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in Melbourne.
