Jasper Knight, Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Sofa 2009
Enamel on KLIPPAN
Jasper has recreated his parents’ leopard-skin lounge. The original has been in the family home for the past 30 years. To him, nothing looks more like ‘home’.
Jasper Knight is a Sydney-based artist, working primarily in painting. His bold, painterly depictions of industrial landscapes are the most iconic of his works. He has been a four-time finalist in prestigious Archibald Prize (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009) and has also been included in the Wynne Prize (2005 and 2006). He has exhibited nationally in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth and internationally in Hong Kong, Berlin and London. Jasper’s recent exhibition Hunters & Gatherers at Cosa Gallery in London’s Covent Garden, featured new collages, prints and works on paper, re-visiting his earlier industrial subject matter. In 2007 he opened Chalk Horse gallery in Sydney’s Surry Hills, exhibiting the work of emerging contemporary artists.
