Lindy Lee & Robert Scott-Mitchell

Essentially, Lindy and Robert’s piece is a family portrait. Family life in the Lee/Scott-Mitchell household revolves around the couch where their dogs, Dougal and Nessie, convene of an evening.

This is their first full public collaboration, although they have contributed to each others work over the last ten years. They wanted to incorporate images that represent their individual work. In Robert’s case, the cushions are derived from his 3D render series, ‘The Rat’s Tale’ and ‘Dougal and the Hill of Bones’ – which in turn are derived from his writings of the same names. Lindy’s work, on the body of the sofa, is based on a series of fire drawings she did in Beijing early this year.

Lindy Lee has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and her work in included in most major public Australian collections. Some significant exhibitions include Perspecta ‘85 Art Gallery of New South Wales; the Biennale of Sydney (1986); Spirit and Place, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, 1997 and Bright and Shining, Australian Embassy, Tokyo 1999, Narrow Road to the Interior MITA Artrium, Singapore, 2003. She is represented by Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, Sydney and Sutton Gallery, Melbourne.

Robert Scott-Mitchell is an artist, printmaker and digital imaging expert. He specializes in hard crafted digital prints and has produced work for a number of Australian artists and photographers.
