Mini Graff, Giceecee 2009
Fabric printing ink, enamel on KLIPPAN
Chickens have been a common theme throughout Mini Graff’s practice over the past few years. Most notable are the mighty Giceecee (pronounced gee-see-see) who are determined to catch the enigmatic Joe and Josephine (the Running Couple). In this chapter Joe and Josephine have trapped the mighty Giceecee in Nana’s floral sofa and are now free to continue their boundless search for the lost Art of Art*.
Born in New Zealand and currently based in Sydney, Mini Graff’s work tends to large-scale mural projects, both private and public. Mini’s street art challenges typical perceptions of graffiti art. She stencils and paints images on to a variety of media (walls, boards, wallpaper) which strongly relate to the given environment and community, transforming an anonymous repetitive urban landscape into a unique and personal aesthetic experience. Mini Graff is an artist with the MAY’s Lane Street Art Project
*The ever-elusive artwork that will define all future works.
